About this role

Role Overview

Philosophy experts apply advanced philosophical training to evaluate AI-generated content and provide targeted feedback that improves philosophical reasoning, theoretical analysis, and technical problem solving in AI systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and assess AI-generated philosophical responses, arguments, and analyses for clarity, coherence, and correctness.
  • Provide detailed feedback and annotations that help models better handle issues in moral philosophy, normative theory, and conceptual analysis.
  • Identify subtle errors in reasoning, ambiguous formulations, and misapplied concepts, and suggest precise corrections or alternative arguments.
  • Follow project-specific guidelines and quality standards when labeling, rating, or commenting on model outputs.
Qualifications
  • Doctoral students or graduates in Philosophy, or closely related fields, including current PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers.
  • At least one published article on moral philosophy in a top generalist or ethics journal, such as:
    • Philosophical Review
    • The Journal of Philosophy
    • NoFs
    • Philosophy and Phenomenological Research
    • Mind
    • Ethics
    • Philosophy & Public Affairs
    • Utilitas
    • Journal of Moral Philosophy
    • Oxford Studies in Normative Ethics
  • Relevant specialties named in the source material include Ethics, Philosophy & Public Affairs, and Utilitas.
Work Terms
  • Remote, part-time, hourly contract work.
  • Flexible, asynchronous schedule with no minimum hour requirement.
  • When active on a project, most contributors work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week.
  • This is not a traditional academic or full-time position and is intended to be compatible with ongoing research, teaching, postdoctoral roles, or industry employment.
Compensation

Up to $140/hr (depending on the project)

Eligibility and Work Authorization
  • Doctoral students and graduates as described in Qualifications are eligible to apply.
  • F-1 students may be eligible if they have appropriate CPT or OPT authorization. Candidates must consult their Designated School Official to confirm eligibility. If a school requires enrollment in a CPT course, this contract work may not satisfy that requirement.
  • STEM OPT is not supported for this work.
Project Availability

Placement on specific projects depends on current project needs. Candidates may be considered for additional projects as new work becomes available.
