Role Overview
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of advanced AI models by leveraging your expertise in intellectual property. As an IP Practitioner, you will design realistic scenarios, evaluate AI-generated outputs, and influence how AI understands patent prosecution and trademark practice.
Key Responsibilities- Design realistic IP scenarios based on your practice, including Office Action responses, prior art analysis, patent drafting, clearance opinions, TTAB proceedings, and FTO analysis.
- Write high-quality reference responses that meet attorney/agent-level standards.
- Grade AI-generated responses using structured rubrics.
- Provide written feedback to the research team to enhance model performance.
- Participate in onboarding office hours and specialty calibration sessions.
- Registered patent agent or patent attorney (USPTO/CIPO/UKIPO), or possess trademark prosecution experience with a J.D. or LL.B./LL.M.
- 1–4 years of professional experience in IP prosecution or litigation.
- Bar admission or USPTO/CIPO/UKIPO registration in good standing.
- Technical background in engineering, computer science, life sciences, or chemistry preferred for patent work.
- Excellent written communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Experience in IP litigation, including claim charts, invalidity analysis, and Markman hearing preparation.
- Experience in IP portfolio management.
- Familiarity with Inter Partes Review (IPR) or Post-Grant Review processes.
- Knowledge of patent analytics tools such as PatSnap, Derwent, or Google Patents.
- Minimum commitment of 20 hours per week, ideally 40+ hours.
- Fully remote position, candidates must be based in the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom.
- Role starts immediately, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
$85–$120 per hour.
