About this role

Role Overview

Perform realistic, analyst-level financial crime and KYC work by completing self-contained case exercises built from mock files. You will produce client-style draft deliverables similar to on-the-job outputs, without access to live systems or client data, and each submission will be evaluated against a rubric.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adjudicate transaction-monitoring alerts using an alert packet, KYC/CDD profile, and transaction history, document dispositions, and draft a SAR narrative when warranted.
  • Review client onboarding and KYC packets for completeness, identify cross-document discrepancies, and produce remediation lists.
  • Resolve multi-layer beneficial ownership structures, applying 10% and 25% ultimate beneficial owner thresholds.
  • Adjudicate sanctions and adverse media hits as true match, false positive, or escalate, providing a concise rationale for each decision.
  • Triage supervisory alert queues, adjudicate card fraud and disputes, and assess flagged communications against trade records.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years hands-on experience in AML, financial crime, KYC/CDD, sanctions screening, fraud and disputes, or transaction surveillance at a bank, fintech, payments company, or money services business.
  • Working knowledge of FinCEN, FATF, and OFAC frameworks, and familiarity with SAR and CDD documentation standards.
  • Strong ability to produce clear, defensible written rationales for investigative decisions.
  • Nice to have, but not required, credentials and skills: CAMS or CFE certification, experience with enhanced due diligence and entity unwinding, SQL or transaction analytics, and direct fintech or payments product experience.
Work Terms
  • Engagement type: Contract, independent contractor status.
  • Expected commitment: approximately 15 hours per week.
  • Location: Remote, US-based candidates only.
Compensation

Hourly pay, $75.00 to $100.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Eligibility
  • Must be based in the United States. Contractor status will be required.
  • No access to live client systems or actual client data will be provided; all assignments use mock files.
Application Process

Applicants will complete a timed assessment that mirrors actual work tasks. The assessment includes:

  • An alert packet exercise requiring disposition decisions and a SAR narrative.
  • A KYC packet review resulting in a discrepancy and remediation list.
  • A batch of sanctions hits to adjudicate with short rationales.

Submissions are evaluated against a rubric. Successful candidates will be engaged as hourly contractors and scheduled for ongoing mock-case assignments consistent with the stated weekly hours.

What to prepare before applying

  1. 3+ years hands-on in AML / financial-crime, KYC/CDD, sanctions screening, fraud/disputes, or transaction surveillance at a bank, fintech, payments company, or MSB.
  2. Working knowledge of FinCEN / FATF / OFAC frameworks and SAR / CDD documentation standards.
  3. Clear, defensible written rationales.
  4. Contract, hourly (~15 hrs/week), remote, US-based.
