About this role

Lead the research agenda for Physical AI, advancing intelligent systems that can understand, reason about, and operate in the physical world. This role sets direction across embodied agents, robot learning, physical-world data, evaluation, and R&D automation while partnering with leading AI and robotics labs on complex Physical AI challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define the Physical AI research agenda and identify high-impact opportunities across robotics, embodied agents, learning, data, evaluation, and physical-world automation.
  • Develop agents that connect foundation models to robots, machines, instruments, and other physical interfaces.
  • Lead research in vision-language-action models, imitation learning, reinforcement learning, world models, and multimodal policies.
  • Study how demonstrations, trajectories, sensor data, simulation, feedback, and autonomous experience improve physical-world intelligence, learning, and generalization.
  • Develop scalable systems for high-quality interaction data using human demonstrations, teleoperation, autonomous rollouts, simulation, and hybrid human-agent workflows.
  • Create rigorous benchmarks for manipulation, spatial reasoning, planning, tool use, robustness, safety, and transfer across tasks and embodiments.
  • Investigate how simulated and real-world experience should be combined, including limitations in sim-to-real transfer.
  • Build agents that support scientific and engineering workflows, including simulation, experimentation, design, fabrication, and laboratory systems.
  • Create reusable datasets, environments, simulators, hardware testbeds, evaluation infrastructure, and research tools.
  • Recruit and develop researchers and engineers, collaborate with leading labs, and publish consequential research.
Qualifications
  • Significant expertise in robotics, embodied AI, robot learning, autonomous systems, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of robotics software, robotics data, and robotics research.
  • Deep intuition for modern learning and agentic systems.
Work Terms
  • Full-time, remote position on the core research team.
Compensation
  • Annual compensation range: $1, 200, 000 to $6, 000, 000.
