About this role
Role Overview
Build a benchmark of the hardest reasoning problems in aerodynamics by creating original, industry-grounded free-response engineering questions. This role requires an experienced aerodynamics specialist to design questions that challenge current top AI models, provide complete expert solutions, and empirically verify each problem''s difficulty by testing it against three frontier language models until at least one model fails.
Key Responsibilities- Author original free-response engineering problems grounded in real industry scenarios.
- Write a complete, expert-level solution for each authored problem.
- Validate each problem''s difficulty by running it against three frontier language models and confirming that at least one model fails to solve it.
- PhD in Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with a thermofluids or aerodynamics specialization.
- At least 5 years of hands-on professional or industry experience in one or more of the following: external aerodynamics, computational fluid dynamics, wind tunnel testing, propulsion, or vehicle aerodynamics.
- Candidates with backgrounds at well-known or blue-chip employers are preferred.
- Backgrounds in rocket or satellite propulsion, structural or aeroelastic finite element methods, or wind-loads-on-buildings do not match the taxonomy required for this role.
- Location: Remote.
- Employment type: hourly.
- Pay rate: 85 - 85 hourly.
- Required academic and professional qualifications as listed above, including the PhD and 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Willingness and ability to run authored problems against three frontier language models and document the model outputs and failure evidence as part of the validation step.
