Chemistry Researcher for AI Model Training

Join a dynamic team of accomplished chemistry researchers dedicated to advancing the next generation of AI systems for scientific reasoning. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge models that reason about various chemistry domains, including organic synthesis, mechanism, catalysis, and more, at the level of a working researcher.

• Author and review challenging chemistry problems used to train and evaluate frontier AI models.
• Evaluate model outputs on tasks such as retrosynthesis, mechanism prediction, spectral interpretation, computational chemistry, and literature reasoning.
• Identify areas where current models fail, particularly mistakes that a working PhD chemist would catch immediately.
• Collaborate with a small program team and other senior contributors.

• First-author or co-first-author publications in top-tier journals such as JACS, Nature Chemistry, Science, and others.
• Doctoral or postdoctoral training at a top-20 global institution for chemistry or STEM.
• Competitive fellowships like NSF GRFP, Hertz, Sloan Research Fellow, and equivalent.
• Issued patents, spin-out companies, or grants where the contributor was a named PI or co-PI.
• International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) Gold/Silver/Bronze medalist.
• Currently or recently in an active research role: PhD candidate, postdoc, instructor, faculty, principal scientist, or industry researcher.

Outstanding senior PhD students and recent graduates with strong publication records are encouraged to apply; depth of research output is valued over years of experience.

• Part-time commitment of 8 to 20 hours per week.
• W-2 employment with Cincinnatus LLC; payroll, benefits, and compliance managed by Cincinnatus.
• No fixed end date; contributors continue as long as the program requires their expertise.

Compensation is competitive and reflects research seniority and credentials, ranging from $125 to $225 per hour.
