About this role
Role Overview
Help evaluate how advanced AI systems handle technical questions involving energetic materials and propulsion. This per-task remote role focuses on distinguishing legitimate professional inquiries from requests that could enable misuse, using practitioner-level judgment to ensure models provide appropriate assistance while declining genuinely dangerous guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Create challenging single-turn, domain-specific prompts categorized as benign, dual-use, or adversarial.
- Evaluate model responses against an established policy standard and determine whether each response was handled correctly.
- Develop reference answers that show the appropriate response and explain the supporting technical reasoning.
- Apply professional judgment to scenarios involving residue analysis, material identification, licensing oversight, diversion indicators, and related forensic or regulatory topics.
- Provide clear written rationales that non-specialists can understand.
Qualifications
- Experience working incident scenes or casework under a national certification, including post-incident material identification and licensee inspection.
- Relevant backgrounds may include federally certified explosives specialist or national equivalent, forensic laboratory analysis of energetic materials and post-blast residues, agency or laboratory post-incident analysis and reporting, regulatory inspection of licensees or permittees, or expert testimony and casework involving energetic materials.
- Red-teaming experience is preferred.
- Strong technical writing ability is essential. Prior technical writing, published research, or expert witness experience is highly valued; include a writing sample or link with your application.
Work Terms
- Remote, per-task engagement.
- The work involves sustained reading and writing about misuse scenarios in this field. Experts receive advance briefing, and may pause or step away at any time without penalty.
Compensation
Compensation is $65 to $75 per task.
Eligibility
- Do not use or disclose classified, export-controlled, NDA-covered, or prepublication-review information in this work.
- Candidates with these obligations may still be considered. Identify them in your application so the work can be scoped appropriately.
