About this role

Role Overview

Help improve how the work of emergency medicine physicians is described in O*NET by providing first-hand accounts of the immediate clinical decisions, triage, patient stabilization, and department leadership tasks you perform in an emergency department setting. This is a short, paid engagement collecting practitioner input to refine occupational descriptions for SOC 29-1214.00.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete a one-time online survey or interview about your day-to-day work as an emergency medicine physician, describing tasks such as triage, clinical decision-making, stabilization, and directing emergency staff, the session takes up to 30 minutes.
  • If invited, complete an optional follow-up activity, which may be a short survey, task, or interview, and will be compensated separately.
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience practicing emergency medicine.
  • Currently working as an emergency medicine physician, or have worked in that role within the last 12 months.
  • Direct, hands-on knowledge of triage processes, clinical decision-making in emergency settings, and patient stabilization tasks.
Work Terms
  • Location: Remote, United States only. Participants must be U.S.-based.
  • Engagement type: hourly, short-form research participation.
  • Primary participation commitment: a single online survey or interview, up to 30 minutes.
  • Optional additional follow-up may be requested and will be compensated separately.
Compensation
  • Pay rate: $115.00 per hour.
Eligibility
  • Eligible: Emergency medicine physicians meeting the experience and recency requirements listed above.
  • Not eligible: EMTs and paramedics (SOC 29-2042.00, 29-2043.00), nurse practitioners or physician assistants working in the emergency department (SOC 29-1171.00 and related PA occupations), registered nurses including ER nurses, urgent care physicians whose practice is not based in an emergency department, physicians in other specialties who do not practice emergency medicine regularly, residents and fellows not yet practicing independently, and surgeons (SOC 29-1249.00).
How to participate

Participation consists of completing the one-time online survey or interview described above. If you complete that session, you will have fulfilled the primary participation requirement. Selected participants may be invited to the optional follow-up activity, which will be described and compensated separately.
