CAD Modeler for AI Model Training (FreeCAD)

Shape next-generation AI systems by producing high-quality, real-world CAD training data. As a remote contractor, you will create, refine, and validate FreeCAD models that help AI models learn, reason, and perform in mechanical engineering contexts.

• Produce, edit, and validate precise parametric CAD models in FreeCAD, with strong geometric accuracy and engineering best practices.
• Develop a diverse library of mechanical parts, assemblies, and features for AI dataset creation and model training.
• Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles so models reflect real-world mechanical design standards.
• Review CAD data for quality, identify and resolve discrepancies, and maintain detailed engineering documentation.
• Incorporate feedback and revisions efficiently as project requirements evolve.
• Use Python scripting, where appropriate, to automate modeling tasks or improve model parametrization, efficiency, and dataset richness.
• Document modeling workflows and decisions to support reproducibility and transparency in dataset creation.

• At least 2 years of experience in mechanical design, CAD modeling, manufacturing, or industrial engineering.
• A strong record of using FreeCAD or equivalent parametric CAD software.
• Expertise in parametric modeling, mechanical design, CAD validation, and engineering best practices.
• Ability to apply GD&T in real-world manufacturing scenarios.
• Familiarity with industrial engineering principles and common manufacturing processes.
• Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to precision and quality.
• Experience preparing comprehensive engineering documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Skills in FreeCAD, Python, parametric modeling, CAD validation, mechanical design, industrial engineering, quality assurance, GD&T, manufacturing processes, and engineering documentation.

• Remote independent contractor engagement.

$40 to $100 per hour.
