Create, edit, and audit parametric 3D mechanical designs using Autodesk Inventor to produce production-ready CAD models, drawings, and documentation. Your deliverables will be used to train and evaluate next-generation AI systems, so clear rationale, traceable edits, and manufacturable designs are essential. No prior AI experience is required, domain expertise is the priority.
Key Responsibilities- Develop fully parametric 3D CAD models of parts and assemblies from detailed written briefs using Autodesk Inventor or comparable platforms.
- Edit and update existing models to reflect revised requirements while maintaining full parametric intent and best-practice modeling standards.
- Audit CAD models and drawings for dimensional accuracy, tolerance application, and manufacturability, documenting gaps and recommended corrections.
- Create and interpret technical drawings, applying ASME Y14.5 or equivalent GD&T standards.
- Incorporate Design for Manufacturability considerations across processes such as injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, and casting or forging.
- Support AI training efforts by providing clear documentation, explanations, and rationale for design decisions, edits, and audit findings.
- Work on reverse engineering tasks, including scan-to-CAD and point cloud-to-model reconstruction where required.
- Manage assembly-level design tasks, not limited to single-part modeling.
- Apply or develop CAD automation and scripting to improve workflow efficiency, and perform CAD model auditing.
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly in written and verbal form to project stakeholders.
- Software and modeling skills: Autodesk Inventor required, fluency with similar platforms such as FreeCAD, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360 is highly relevant.
- Parametric 3D CAD modeling experience, with a minimum of 4 years for edit-level work, and 10 or more years for complex creation tasks.
- Practical knowledge and application of GD&T, ASME Y14.5 or equivalent.
- Design for Manufacturability experience across at least two to three manufacturing processes, for example injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, casting.
- Reverse engineering experience, including scan-to-CAD and point-cloud workflows.
- Experience with assembly-level design and complex mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with CAD automation and scripting languages or tools such as Python, iLogic, VBA, NX Open, or similar.
- Strong written and verbal communication, documentation skills, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
